Westchester County Cancer Survivor: “Congressman Lawler, Protect Our Health Care”
Empire State Voices Launches Third Paid Ad Highlighting Rep. Lawler’s vote to cut health care to give tax cuts to the rich.
WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK —
Today, Empire State Voices unveiled its third ad holding Rep. Mike Lawler accountable for a voting record that has put Hudson Valley residents at risk and raised health care costs to benefit the rich.
The new ad features Karen, a Westchester County mother, wife, and cancer survivor who fears that the loss of critical ACA health care tax credits will send her health care costs spiraling.
“Families like mine are scared about how we can afford to stay healthy and pay the bills,” said Karen. “The Republican Tax law is putting health care at risk for cancer survivors like me, all to fund tax cuts for billionaires. It is a betrayal of Hudson Valley constituents to fund handouts for the ultra-wealthy by stripping health care from the people who need it most.”
The ad directly calls out Rep. Lawler for voting for the Republican Tax Law, which threatens the health care coverage of thousands of New Yorkers and raises costs.
These and other votes Rep. Lawler has taken have real consequences. From cuts to Medicaid funding to the expiration of ACA health care tax credits that helped thousands of New Yorkers afford coverage, families across NY-17 are paying more during an already punishing cost-of-living crisis. Karen’s ad is the third installment in a $2 million digital ad campaign, highlighting Rep. Lawler’s record of putting billionaire interests ahead of his constituents' needs.

“ I've had health issues over the years, breast cancer, and chronic illnesses. I've seen the same doctors for a long time, and they know my history. These relationships are personal. They've saved my life.
Congressman Mike Lawler voted to increase health care costs. I could lose access to the doctors I rely on. Finding new doctors is stressful and very expensive.
Instead of protecting health care, Mike Lawler voted to give tax breaks to billionaires. It may not matter to him, but it's my life. Congressman Lawler needs to protect our health care.”
