Fighting for hardworking New Yorkers
Our Issues.
Healthcare Is a Right, Not a Luxury
Healthcare costs are already too high; working families shouldn’t have to foot the bill for tax breaks given to the wealthy. In the Hudson Valley, two hospitals are at heightened risk of closure due to Rep. Mike Lawler’s votes. Empire State Voices fights to protect healthcare and lower healthcare costs for all New Yorkers by urging action and amplifying the voices of those impacted. We want to ensure every New Yorker can access the care they need without sacrificing their financial security.
Every Dollar at the Pump Matters
When gas prices rise, working families feel it first, and they feel it everywhere, from their daily commute to the cost of groceries and other necessities. Gas is up $1.20 since the war in Iran that Rep. Lawler voted twice to support. Empire State Voices supports policies that lower energy costs and oppose decisions that make it harder for New Yorkers to afford the basics.
No One Should Go Hungry in the Richest Country on Earth
At a time when grocery prices remain high, cutting food assistance only makes life harder for families, seniors, veterans, and children. We fight to protect SNAP, which 49% of children in Hudson Valley depend on, and other nutrition programs that help millions of New Yorkers put food on the table and make ends meet.
An Economy That Works for Working People
For too many New Yorkers, the cost of housing, childcare, healthcare, and everyday essentials keeps rising, with the average household paying more than $3,029 more a year, while the wealthy and well-connected get special treatment. We fight for policies that lower costs, strengthen economic opportunity, and put working families first and not special interests.
