Rep. Mike Lawler’s Economy: Less Social Security, More Corporate Greed

WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK — As the House plans to vote on upcoming legislation that would threaten deep cuts to essential programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ benefits, and SNAP, Empire State Voices is urging Rep. Mike Lawler to vote against this measure and support working New Yorkers. Last summer, Rep. Lawler voted for massive cuts to Medicaid and Medicare to give tax breaks to billionaires. Thousands of Hudson Valley families rely on these essential programs every day, and we hope Rep. Lawler remembers those constituents as he decides how to vote.

"Rep. Lawler must vote no on this dangerous amendment. Supporting it would put Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid at risk for thousands of NY-17 residents,” said Alan Levy, a NY-17 resident and retired small business owner. “Time and again, Lawler has claimed he’ll protect programs like Medicaid—only to side with billionaire interests when it matters most.”
