Lawler’s Economic Betrayal: Tax Breaks for CEOs, Chump Change for Seniors
WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK — After years of supporting corporate policies like the Republican Tax Law that drained federal revenue and tilted the tax system toward corporate and billionaire interests, Rep. Mike Lawler has voted for new legislation that would require deep cuts to essential programs. With government deficits driven up by Lawler’s support for tax cuts for the wealthy and corporate welfare, the only way to achieve the legislation’s spending requirements would be through draconian cuts to critical programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ benefits, and SNAP—putting critical support for working Hudson Valley families at risk.
“Shame on Rep. Lawler for supporting this amendment. His vote threatens Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for thousands of NY-17 residents. Rep. Lawler continues to uplift billionaire interests over the needs of his constituents,” said Alan, a NY-17 resident and retired small business owner. “This continues a long pattern of Lawler saying he will protect key social programs like Medicaid and then voting to destroy them. Lawler is as consistent as he is duplicitous.”
