Rep. Lawler Fuels Endless War While Hudson Valley Families Pay the Price

WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK  Today, Rep. Mike Lawler voted against a War Powers Resolution that would have placed accountability on the Republicans’ war in Iran, continuing his pattern of gleefully backing a conflict costing taxpayers roughly $1 billion a day — significantly less than the cost of the crucial health care tax credits Republicans let expire. For Rep. Lawler, there’s always money for war, but never enough for Medicaid or affordable health care.

For Hudson Valley families already struggling with surging inflation and gas prices that have risen $1.50 per gallon since last year, the contrast could not be clearer. Republicans are willing to pour billions into another war abroad while cutting health care coverage at home. Rep. Lawler already backed the Republican Tax Law that could leave roughly 860,000 more New Yorkers uninsured, including 28,000 of his own constituents.

Rep. Lawler had the chance to stand up for the Hudson Valley and put limits on another costly conflict. Instead, he chose party loyalty and endless war over the people he represents.
