Lawler Once Campaigned Against Gas Price Increases. Now He’s Defending Them

WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK  After years of blaming others for rising gas prices and the cost of living, Rep. Mike Lawler is now defending the very policies that are making life more expensive for Hudson Valley families. Gas prices are up $1.50 per gallon since last year, inflation is surging, and Lawler has backed the Republican Tax Law’s historic Medicaid cuts while even saying higher gas prices tied to the Iran War were “absolutely worth it.”

“Every time I fill up my car lately, I feel it. Groceries cost more, gas costs more, and it feels like families in the Hudson Valley are doing everything right but still falling behind,” said Herb Silverman, a retiree and Pomona resident. “Rep. Lawler has abandoned affordability while backing the War in Iran and $900 billion in Medicaid cuts. Retirees like me  can’t afford any more of Rep. Lawler’s broken policies.”

The same Republicans who plastered gas pumps with political attacks are now asking families to accept higher costs as the price of their agenda. Meanwhile, New Yorkers are already struggling with rising costs of groceries, housing, and health care. Rep. Lawler must start supporting legislation that would lower out-of-control costs.
