Mike Lawler's Economy: Jobs Down, Energy Prices Up

WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK — Hudson Valley residents already struggling to get by financially were hit with bad news this week. Gas prices are skyrocketing,  up 11% in just one week, adding to the already heavy burden of rising electricity prices, and the labor economy is sputtering. New reports from the US Department of Labor show that the country lost 92,000 jobs in February, and that New York saw the largest percentage increase in weekly unemployment claims with a staggering 123.9% jump.

“Our jobs are disappearing and our bills keep getting bigger, meanwhile Congressman Lawler is busy cheerleading President Trump’s new war that costs $1 billion per day is actively making the affordability crisis worse,” said Paul Diamond, a retired teacher from Suffern. “We keep being told there isn’t enough money to help with health care, there isn’t enough money to help with groceries, there isn’t enough money to help with heating bills, now there’s suddenly plenty of money for a war. It’s becoming more and more clear that the people of the Hudson Valley are just not the priority. Congressman Lawler needs to change direction and start fighting for his working-class constituents.”
