Rep. Lawler, Are You Listening? New Yorkers Need FOOD!

Hudson Valley Residents Urge Rep. Lawler to Not Stick to the Status Quo

WESTCHESTER, NEW YORK — As the House prepares to vote on the Farm Bill, Hudson Valley residents are urging Rep. Lawler to oppose legislation that would preserve the status quo created by the 2025 Republican Tax Law he supported. A law that included historic cuts to SNAP and food security programs.

“I’m a working mom, and I’m worried about how I’m going to afford groceries and health care for my family,” said Melita, a mother of four from North Salem. “With costs rising and tariffs driving up everyday prices, this is not the time to cut support for people who are doing everything right. My family depends on SNAP to stay fed and healthy. Rep. Lawler needs to vote against any bill that continues to take food off our tables.”

In 2025, Rep. Lawler voted for the Republican Tax Law, which included the largest SNAP cuts in history. Nearly 28,000 households in Rep. Lawler’s District rely on SNAP, and the program generates $238 million in economic activity for NY-17.
