Rep. Lawler Blocks Efforts to Reverse Republican Tariffs!
Tariffs are Continuing to Raise Prices on Consumer Goods, Inflicting Serious Pain on Working Families
NEW YORK — Congressman Mike Lawler just joined his Republican colleagues in the House to pass yet another measure that blocks any attempt to reverse the Republican tariffs, this time through March of next year. Rep. Lawler’s vote comes as working families in his district are already struggling under the pressure of higher prices on everything from back-to-school essentials to groceries, clothing, and their utility bills. Just yesterday, House Republicans shut down an attempt to end tariffs on Brazil, which have caused the cost of coffee to skyrocket.
“To say that these price increases have caused my family immense stress would be an understatement,” said Tabitha Williams, a resident of Peekskill. “Living in New York was already expensive. Now, these tariffs that Rep. Lawler continues to support have made nearly everything I buy more expensive. I don’t know why he keeps voting to protect them, but he needs to stop today and start fighting to lower our costs instead!”
