Thanks to Rep. Lawler’s Support, Tariffs Mean Higher Prices for New Yorkers’ Back-to-School Essentials

Ongoing Tariff Chaos is Hurting Working Families, as New Rules Raise Consumer Prices EVEN HIGHER!

NEW YORK — As New Yorkers across the state begin the new school year, many families are finding themselves shocked by staggering prices on back-to-school essentials—from notebooks and laptops to backpacks, clothes, and even lunch meats! The culprit? Rep. Lawler’s support for the war against American consumers, which saw the implementation of harmful new tariff rules just last month.

New Yorkers have seen a steady increase in prices on everything from food and clothing to electronics, cars, and even their energy bills, as companies pass the cost of new tariffs onto consumers. This pain for working families is only expected to grow in the months ahead, as inventory stockpiles dwindle and costs continue to go up.

“It’s already hard enough to make sure that my kid has everything he needs to do the best he can for the new school year,” said Tabitha Williams, a resident of Peekskill, “but if prices continue to go up, I don’t know how we’re going to pay for everything. Congressman Lawler needs to stop supporting these tariffs because prices are going way up. Families like mine will have to start making impossible choices between the everyday things we need, like food, medicine, electricity, and school supplies. No family should be put in that position.”
