New York Manufacturer Lays Off Dozens, Trump’s Tariffs are to Blame
House Republicans Refuse to Act as New Yorkers Suffer
NEW YORK — As New Yorkers continue to feel the pain from President Trump’s reckless tariffs, even American manufacturing is not immune to the suffering. A Central New York manufacturer has just announced broad layoffs at its Pulaski facility, as the cost of Trump’s tariffs outpaces the company’s entire payroll.
This latest blow to New York workers comes as upstate farmers are still reeling from rising costs and Walmart announces price hikes caused by the very same tariffs.
“President Trump’s reckless tariffs are doing absolutely nothing to help domestic manufacturing, while inflicting serious pain on working New Yorkers and their families,” said Maria Martinez, Executive Director of Empire State Voices. “While Congress has the authority to challenge this harmful policy, New York House Republicans have sat back and done nothing as their own constituents suffer. These Representatives are not powerless here—it’s time for them to stand up and do something!”
