ICYMI: Mike Lawler Has Made It More Expensive to Live in New York
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rep. Mike Lawler has voted time and again to make it more expensive to live in New York by supporting tariffs, the Iran war, and repeatedly supporting the Republican Tax Law’s cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other essential services.
Now, families across the Hudson Valley are struggling with rising grocery bills, increasingly expensive fuel, and inflation that's climbing, all while Rep. Lawler is lining his own pockets and giving tax breaks to billionaires.
“Every bill I get, from groceries to gas to energy for my home, is getting more and more expensive, and I won’t be able to keep up much longer before my family is forced to make some difficult decisions,” said Medjine from Spring Valley. “Mike Lawler voted for this so he could give tax breaks to billionaires, so why are we paying the price?”
“Rep. Lawler has done nothing for me except make it nearly impossible to afford everyday essentials like groceries and gas,” said Paul from Suffern. “I worked my whole life, and responsibly saved for my retirement, but now my Congressman cares more about giving tax breaks to billionaires and making Donald Trump happy than making sure I can afford to survive.”
During his time in office, entities controlled by Rep. Lawler paid over $700,000 to the political consulting firm he co-founded. He also received over $35,000 in campaign contributions from companies that went on to receive tax breaks from the very same bill that is hurting Hudson Valley families. To learn more about Empire State Voices, contact press@empirestatevoices.org
