Congressman D’Esposito Tries to Run Away From His Record

D’Esposito Plays Word Games with the Press, Sidesteps Questions About His Record on Key Legislation

NEW YORK — Yesterday, Rep. Anthony D’Esposito responded to an ad from Empire State Voices calling him out for opposing legislation to lower insulin costs.  While D’Esposito insists that he has never voted on legislation to increase insulin prices, he intentionally left out that he opposed last year’s Inflation Reduction Act, which lowers the cost of insulin for 1.5 million Americans and gives Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices. He also voted in favor of the Republicans’ Default on America Act in May, which would have jeopardized health coverage for over 2.3 million New Yorkers and led to higher healthcare costs.

This is nothing more than some classic political sidestepping.

“Congressman D’Esposito can try and play cute word games all he wants,” said Maria Martinez, Executive Director of Empire State Voices. “At the end of the day, his record is clear. He opposed a law that lowers costs for hardworking New Yorkers and has voted in favor of legislation that puts them and their families at risk.”
